Environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy has unveiled this year’s Green Flag Award winners – the international mark of a quality park or green space.
Ty’r Winch Playing Field has achieved the coveted Green Flag Community Award in recognition of its high environmental standards, cleanliness, safety, and community involvement.
Located in Old St. Mellons, and owned by Old St. Mellons Community Council, they have strived to maintain the playing fields to a high standard and a safe environment for the Community.
To win this award again means so much to the Community Council as all the hard work to maintaining a safe environment for all to enjoy has not gone unnoticed.

Now in its third decade, Green Flag recognises well-managed parks and green spaces in 20 countries around the world.
In Wales, the awards scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy. Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said:
“We’re thrilled to see a new record number of 199 community managed green spaces in Wales have achieved Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of volunteers.

The childrens play area and two tennis courts are a popular site with families and children.
Visitors to the playing field are reminded that dogs are NOT permitted in the field and notices are displayed at the entrance advising all users accordingly.
