Welsh Government

The South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner has launched his annual community survey. The aim of the survey is to seek feedback from the public about:

  • what can be improved to make people feel safe wherever they live, work, or spend time in South Wales
  • their views and experiences of engaging with the police in their local area
  • their views on the options being considered for the policing element of council tax payments (the “precept”).

The results from this survey will be helpful as part of the decision making for setting the 2023/24 police precept, as well as the way we pursue the delivery of Neighbourhood Policing and Community Safety work. It will provide the Commissioner and his team with a broader understanding of the issues making people feel unsafe and how we work with the police and local organisations to better understand where and how resources should be targeted to keep communities safe and provide reassurance.

The Commissioner is committed to ensuring that we hear the views of as many people as possible and would appreciate your support as community representatives to encourage people in your areas to take part before the survey closes on Tuesday 13th December 2022. I would really value it if you will support this approach by promoting and circulating the survey to your constituents via whatever mechanisms and forums that you have in place.

Attached posters and graphics, which promote the various ways of taking part in the consultation. Alternatively, details of how to take part in the survey are included below:

Mae Comisiynydd Heddlu a Throsedd De Cymru wedi lansio ei arolwg cymunedol blynyddol. Nod yr arolwg yw gofyn am adborth gan y cyhoedd am:

  • yr hyn y gellir ei wella i wneud i bobl deimlo'n ddiogel ble bynnag maen nhw'n byw, yn gweithio, neu'n treulio amser yn Ne Cymru
  • eu barn a'u profiadau o drafod gyda'r heddlu yn eu hardal leol
  • eu barn am yr opsiynau sy'n cael eu hystyried ar gyfer yr elfen blismona o daliadau treth gyngor (y "praesept").

Bydd canlyniadau'r arolwg hwn yn ddefnyddiol fel rhan o'r broses o wneud penderfyniadau ar gyfer gosod praesept heddlu 2023/24, yn ogystal â'r ffordd yr ydym yn mynd ati i ddarparu gwaith Plismona Cymdogaeth a Diogelwch Cymunedol. Bydd yn rhoi dealltwriaeth ehangach i'r Comisiynydd a'i dîm o'r materion sy'n gwneud i bobl deimlo'n anniogel a sut rydym yn gweithio gyda'r heddlu a'r sefydliadau lleol i ddeall yn well ble a sut y dylid targedu adnoddau i gadw cymunedau'n ddiogel a darparu sicrwydd.

Mae'r Comisiynydd wedi ymrwymo i sicrhau ein bod yn clywed barn cynifer o bobl â phosib, a byddem yn gwerthfawrogi eich cefnogaeth fel cynrychiolwyr cymunedol i annog pobl yn eich ardaloedd i gymryd rhan cyn i'r arolwg gau ddydd Mawrth 13 Rhagfyr 2022. Byddwn wir yn ei werthfawrogi os byddwch yn cefnogi'r dull hwn drwy hyrwyddo a chylchredeg yr arolwg i'ch etholwyr drwy ba bynnag fecanweithiau a fforymau sydd gennych ar waith.

Dwi wedi atodi posteri a graffeg, sy'n hyrwyddo'r gwahanol ffyrdd o gymryd rhan yn yr ymgynghoriad. Fel arall, mae'r manylion ynglŷn â sut i gymryd rhan yn yr arolwg wedi'u cynnwys isod:

Hello,

My name is Lynne, and I’m getting in touch today to tell you about our #TogetherWeCan campaign.

Here at Home-Start Cymru, we have seen a significant spike in the number of families reaching out for support and information over the past years. We are looking for people who can spare even just an hour a week to help deliver our services to families.  Our charity provides support, friendship, and practical help to parents with young children when they need it most.

Our volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support tailored to each family. Our volunteers are trained and given support and guidance from our highly skilled and experienced local coordinators in their area. Becoming a Home-Start Cymru volunteer enables us to improve the lives of families by encouraging parents to develop the knowledge, skills, and resilience to enable their children to thrive.

What we're looking for:

  • A parent, grandparent, carer, someone with parenting experience or students who would like a career working with families
  • Good communication skills, including an ability to listen and understand the need for support
  • A sensitive and caring attitude towards others with a non-judgemental attitude
  • Time and enthusiasm for Home-Start Cymru and support for our social media campaigns
  • Commitment to visit or call a family member each week at a mutually agreed time

A positive attitude to working with people of any gender, family status or sexual identity, or who are from any ethnic origin, culture or religion, or who may have a disability.
